EPO Software Client Installation for Microsoft Windows

The EPO client is part of McAfee’s system security suite to protect your computer from malicious attacks. It helps keep your software protection up to date; configure and enforce protection policies; and monitor security status. It’s the newest security software for the College of Sciences. If you have an old version of McAfee AntiVirus, the EPO client will take care of uninstalling the old version and installing a new version for you.

BEFORE you can install this application, you will need to be logged into your administrator account.

  • Download the file FramePkg.exe
  • Note: You must be on Campus to Download this file.
  • A panel will open – Select “Save” option.
  • Locate the file FramePkg.exe where you saved it.
  • Double click the file to run it.
  • The McAfee Agent and Updater will install itself.
  • It may take as long as 20 minutes to complete.
  • Once finished, reboot your computer.

Ignore the message from the Microsoft Security Center that your AntiVirus is “Out of Date”, after rebooting your computer. The AntiVirus update may take as long as 20 minutes to download all the necessary updates. The EPO client is busy working for you in the background.

If you have any difficulties installing the EPO client, please call the Sciences Computing Help Desk x44881

Patch Management

Also to maintain your system integrity you need to install the Patch Management Client to manage your system and application patch updates.
