A Quick Guide for Suspicious Emails

Official Steps for Responding to a Phishing Email

  1. Forward the email to fraud@sdsu.edu
  2. If possible, include the email headers in the email.
    • Open the email you want to check headers for
    • Next to reply on the top right, click the 3 vertical dots to show more.
    • Click “Show Original”
    • This will cause a new tab or window to open that includes fields like authentication results. To get the full message header, copy everything below “Download Original” and include it in the email

Alternatively, you can contact the Information Technology Client Services (ITCS), also known as Enterprise Technology Client Services (ETCS) Help Desk at (619) 594-5261.
